Here's a fun story for ya:
All four of us were out on our weekly grocery shopping trip, well, all five of us if you include Sadie, Selah's special doll, who was brought along on this trip. Selah kept telling us funny things Sadie was doing/saying, describing things
she likes or ways she acts at home or how often she sleeps/eats…proving that she
pays very close attention to the conversations I typically have throughout
the day with other moms regarding mommy stuff. Then, while in
the meat aisle, she pointed out that Sadie was hungry, so she put the doll's mouth to
her belly and told us she was feeding her.
We thought that was pretty cute, although it isn’t something new,
especially when I was still nursing Owen she did this quite frequently. But then she proceeded to explain that Sadie
was eating grapes…grapes from the nibble on her belly.
The nibble…on her belly… a thing that Sadie
puts her mouth on to eat grapes… I LOVE IT!!!!
Ok, well maybe it is just because we are her parents, but she had us cracking up! And the way she said it was just too cute,
with this grown up, confident, mommyish way of describing her "baby" Sadie.
One day I'll explain the real way a baby eats and all the scientific terms and yada yada...but in that moment there was no correction or educating, there was just enjoying the imagination of a nurturing and loving four year old girl, my sweet, sweet four year old girl.
