Summer 2016

We spent most of our summer preparing to sell our house and move to Austin for Daniel's new job...but we tried to make the most of our last summer in McKinney also!

Last day of school!

Pizza party fun

Class of 2028! Whoa!
That'll be just two years after
my twenty year reunion...crazy thought!

We had a lot of rain in June,

And the kids had a blast splashing in puddles!

So fun to get muddy and wet!

Whenever we get to church early,
(which is pretty rare!)
everyone gets a donut!

He loves when we get to church early ;)

The first week of summer the kids went to a
Tiny Tots Olympics Camp at the church across
the street, and I was so thrilled to be asked to
be apart of it!! I participate in a mom's group at this
church twice a month, so I know quite a few of the
moms involved, we had a blast putting on this camp
for our little preschoolers!! My job was "Storytime"
and it made me feel like a teacher again...I loved it!!!

errands

Frequently we get together with a family with the same
aged kids and same genders...we seriously hit the jackpot
when we meet and became friends with this family!!
We sure miss our family dinners together!!

Dance recital!!

This girl's got some sass and loves to move and groove!
*No idea where she got that from ;)

Her fan club
Hanging out at the Salvation Army,
every once in a while our community
group had the privilege of providing
a free meal to anyone who wanted it
and the kids never wanted to leave they
always had so much fun!

The kid's aquarium with cousin Nick!
We got to watch the stingrays eat lunch!

After the aquarium we got to ride on the carousel

The knight in shining armor

The princess and her royal guard

love these boys!!
cheeeeese!

fun morning at the splash park with this sweet bunch!

We tried karate.
It wasn't exactly his thing...but Selah loved it!!

Since Daddy works from home we have to
get creative when trying to make him
gifts, we did some painting at the park
for his Father's Day gift!

I got to take the big kids for a special
night out to see The Seussical, so fun!

The play was in the same building we go
to church so Owen was so confused
how and why it could look so different

Our finished Daddy's Day project!!
He displays it proudly on his new desk ;)

Daniel had to go to Austin on Father's Day
for a couple days so we had to say
our goodbyes and give him some love
before he left

Then we went to Daniel's parents to
celebrate! These kids love "Buddy Bear"
that lives at grandma and grandpa's.

Owen's birthday!!!

He's FOUR!!
And doesn't have any clothes on...

Checking out his new sword
from How To Train Your Dragon

Birthday donuts!!

Our family met us for donuts too!

Then we headed downtown to the
Perot Children's Museum!
Perot Children's Museum

He put a sticker on his head...haven't we all?

Some wet, sandy fun!

Organizing allllll the baby/kid clothes I've saved
over the past 7 years. I sent a huge load over to
my friend who is a foster parent and donates them
to a place that gives foster families
clothes for free! We had a looooong
sorting party at her house to make it easier
for others to look through and find what they need.
I wonder what sweet little ones
are wearing all these clothes now?!

Owen had a Ninja Turtle birthday party with his
friends and had a blast!!
I have like zero pictures from the event though...sad.

Also at Owen's party, some splash pad fun

Now time to celebrate cousin Nick turning TWO!

Happy birthday little man!!!

Eating sushi for the first time during our trip to Austin
to look for our new home

With all the busyness going on around us
we needed to throw in some family fun time,
so we went bowling!!

so intense haha, I just love this shot of him!!

pizza afterwards!

my little artist!
Frozen yogurt for dessert!

Our house was being painted to get it ready to
put on the market, so we had to be out of the house,
we went to the mall and happened to go into the Disney Store
during their storytime...fun!

these pictures capture Owen's personality so perfectly

Barnes and Nobles

Enjoying the beautiful weather on the Forth of July

watching fireworks with the big kids!

We went to a movie theatre that also offers food,
but Blake didn't touch a think of his favorite mac and cheese
and just stared at the screen lol...his first movie experience!!
Horton Hears a Who!

Spending lots of time at our in-laws while our home was
being worked on and being shown...they spoil us!!

Now it's official!!!

It was time to say goodbye to our
"jumpy couch" :(
My mom gave Daniel and I this
couch shortly after we got married,
which my parents had bought way back
in the early 90's or so, and then after we got a bigger, new couch
this one became the kids' trampoline basically, it did it's job,
and we will miss you Jumpy Couch!

I went to check on Owen before going to bed one night
and found this haha he sure was busy with all his books

Hair cut!!

Must have tickled :)

Helping Daddy clean up the backyard

Most of the kids' toys were packed away
(and there was no more jumpy couch)
so Daddy became their favorite toy!
Horsey rides all day long.

Running some errands before church

Some library time,
this guy reads...

while I try to keep this guy from
climbing, running, throwing, ripping, ect.

Both big kids took swim lessons this year,
and they both LOVED it!! And they made progress...yay!

Garage Sale day

sweet friends

crazy hair, don't care

wiped out

some serious playtime going on

Took these two back-to-school shopping
before our long trip to Oregon,

and we stopped for an ice cream treat afterwards,
they both thought the Chick-Fil-A playarea
is a little creepy at 9:00 at night

Selah's Shopkins birthday party at Sugar and Spice!!
And the last big get together with friends!

Sweet girl...she's SEVEN!!!

Beautiful princesses

She got so many sweet, thoughtful gifts!

We love you Selah Renae!!!

Selah's Birthday Break-Through!!

Happy birthday dear girl!

Her birthday happened to be on a Sunday,
and she was so excited to be at church on her birthday!

Our last week in McKinney, the kids got to go to VBS!
They both had a fantastic time and learned so much!!

The boys got to go out for treats while people
were looking at our house and Selah was at VBS

He apparently didn't want me to take pictures

Daddy was getting this one all riled up!

Our last Saturday together as a family for a while,
Daniel was staying behind to work and move while the
kids and I went to Oregon to visit grandma.
So we found a breakfast spot I've always
wanted to try...it was DELICIOUS!!

My man

The restaurant was right by a pond,
so the kids were trying to find fish...no fish

Our church friends hosted a going away party for us,
there was a ton of yummy yummy food and so
much fun hanging out with our friends!!
WE LOVE THEM AND MISS THEM!!!!!

love these boys!

Our dear friend and realtor!

The hostess :)
I will miss her and her family so very much!!
It's a good thing it's a fairly quick drive,
lots of visits in our future!

Made these little goodies for everyone,
we were blessed with such amazing friendships
while in McKinney!

Our final goodbye to the Chambers family!!! :(

We gave gifts, we ate snack, they kids played, and
we cried and cried, so hard to leave such great people.
The night before we left for Oregon, Daniel had the kids stand in their room and he took a panoramic picture of all our rooms. GOODBYE HOUSE!! The past four years have been a blast!

Our realtor had us write a "seller's letter" and it was so fun to put together! Here it is:

A lot of life has been lived in just the short four years we have occupied this beautiful home. It’s adapted well to our growing and changing family quite perfectly.  We’ve raised a toddler and brought two babies home from the hospital to this house, hosted countless get-togethers, parties, playdates, and holidays, and housed out-of-town guests for a fun Dallas vacation. The downstairs layout provided the perfect space for a kids’ playarea as well as a separate formal living area for adult gatherings with the kitchen right in the middle of it all. The upstairs bedrooms provided a quiet and secluded space for rest and work, and the closeness of the rooms made it easier to meet middle of the night needs.

The carpeted living space to the right of the house entertained its share of giggly girls and rambunctious boys. Many tickle fights, wrestling matches, cartwheels and somersaults have taken place in this space, as well as train tracks and block towers built, large floor puzzles put together, games played and forts made.

The table area in the kitchen made for a great creation station. Many school lessons, homework projects, science experiments, playdough sculpting, bracelet making, coloring, cutting, stamping, painting and other various arts and crafts have taken place in this space. The easy access to the pantry/art supply closet and the easy to clean tile made it an ideal place to let imaginations run wild.

The formal living area provided a quiet space to read, study, watch movies (or football if it’s fall!), and rest after a full day. It made the perfect space for Bible studies and Superbowl parties, family gatherings and evening with friends.

The large master bedroom served well as both a bedroom, an office area for my work-at-home husband, and a crafting/sewing space for me. The separate countertops and sinks in the master bathroom made a perfect his and hers space for getting ready in harmony. A warm bubble bath in the spacious bathtub was a perfect way to unwind on cold winter nights after kids were in bed. The large walk-in closet housed all kinds of items from clothing to hidden Christmas presents. The easy access to the other bedrooms gave my kids their own private spaces while keeping them close enough to feel safe and within reach.

The formal dining area and kitchen was an absolute favorite place to be and where most of our time was spent. Kids loved to gather stools and chairs by the island to watch dinner being made or help bake muffins and cookies. The double oven came in very handy during the holidays, when having friends over for brunch, or making hundreds of goodies for a bake sale or birthday party. That feature may be what I end up missing the most, it made many cooking and baking endeavors so much simpler!! But my absolute, most favorite part of our entire house was the little window above the large porcelain sink where I could prepare a meal or clean up a meal while watching my children play, laugh, run, and tumble in the backyard. They were close enough to be reached if needed yet so caught up in their own little world drawing pictures with chalk on the cement slab or digging in the pebbles to find rolly pollys that I could be productive without much distraction. The radio by the sink could also be turned on to add a bit of entertainment to the work at hand.

When the backyard didn’t quite get all the wiggles out, the neighborhood park was within walking distance for a nice change of scenery and the two elementary school playgrounds were perfect for a quick little bike ride. On nice weather days we could walk our daughter to McGowen Elementary for school. We love McGowen and the school community they’ve created there, Principal Little is absolutely delightful!! Other places we’ve enjoyed walking to is Manna Donuts on Eldorado for a yummy breakfast treat, Christ Fellowship for church events or to play on the playground, the Family Video to pick up a free kid’s DVD, or Zenith gymnastics for my daughter’s weekly class.

It’s going to be hard to leave this house behind, but I’m thankful for all the memories we’ve shared here. I hope you find many opportunities to make your own wonderful memories in this house once you make this home your own.
